Lansdowne, PA – April 21, 2026
Two William Penn School District educators were recognized for their commitment to students at the 2026 Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union (FMFCU) Foundation Celebration, held on April 16th at the Drexelbrook Events Center.
Nicole Mason, a first-grade teacher at Park Lane Elementary, and Jacquelyn Lorah, Algebra I teacher and Mathematics Department Chair at Penn Wood Ninth Grade Academy, were named recipients of the Delaware Valley Excellence in Teaching Award. The recognition is presented by FMFCU in partnership with the Delaware County Intermediate Unit and the Henderson Foundation.
Nearly 450 guests attended the event, including students, educators, and community leaders from across the region. The evening focused on recognizing individuals who are making a meaningful impact in their schools and communities.
Recognizing Impact in the Classroom
Mason, who has seven years of experience in education, was recognized for her dedication to her students and her work across math, social studies, and science in first grade.
- “Seeing my students realize their own potential and take pride in their growth is incredibly rewarding,” Mason shared. “My class is full of curiosity, humor, resilience, and creativity, and I love creating opportunities where they can shine.”
Lorah, a 22-year educator and leader of the mathematics department at Penn Wood Ninth Grade Academy, was recognized for her leadership and her ability to create a supportive learning environment.
- “Watching my students learn math in a safe and caring environment is what I value most,” Lorah said. “When a student says, ‘I am so proud of myself,’ it inspires me to continue doing what I love.”
Each educator received $1,000 to support classroom initiatives. In addition, Park Lane Elementary and Penn Wood Ninth Grade Academy each received a $1,000 grant.
Celebrating Student Achievement
The event also honored the high school teams that competed in Delco Hi-Q, an academic quiz competition that promotes teamwork, critical thinking, and academic excellence.
One student from each participating team was named to the All-Delco Hi-Q Team. Congratulations to Bintu Conteh, Penn Wood High School Class of 2026, on this recognition.
