School Opening Transportation FAQs

  1. When will I receive my transportation information for my student?
    Letters were mailed the week of August 19, 2024. All letters should have been received at this point.
  2. What should I do if I have not received my transportation information?
    Please contact the transportation depot for your routing information at 215-461-2586 – ext. 1
  3. If I have contacted the depot and they do not have transportation information for my student what should I do?
    If your student is not in our system, please follow up with the registration department to ensure that your registration has been completed. They can be reached at 215-461-2586 – ext. 1.If your student is in our system, the transportation depot will work with you to resolve the problem.
  4. My student does not attend a William Penn School District school and I need assistance with transportation. What should I do?
    All students will need to register with the William Penn School District. Please visit the registration website at https://williampennsd.org/departments/registration/
  5. If I am brand new to the William Penn School District, how do I receive transportation?
    All new families should visit the registration website at https://williampennsd.org/departments/registration/ to complete registration. Once registration has been fully completed, families generally receive transportation within ten (10) business days.
  6. How do I know if I am eligible for transportation?
    Once a student registers within the William Penn School District, they will automatically be sent to our transportation system. The transportation system will automatically calculate based on the students mileage from the students home, to the students school.Distance Requirements by grade level:
    – Grades K – 6 living 1.5 miles from their assigned school
    – Grades 7 – 12 living 2.0 miles from their assigned school
  7. What if Google says that my students are eligible for transportation?
    Google is not the district’s official record for mileage. The mileage that is used by the district’s transportation system is calculated based on walking distances based on additional factors.
  8. Can I track my students bus?
    FirstView is a Live Tracking app that shows you the location and direction of your student’s bus, for both morning and afternoon trips. FirstView also provides caregivers with confirmation when the trip is complete. Please see below for additional information and how you can sign up your student.   10. Are there other ways to receive information from the depot?
    Yes. Families can sign up to receive robo texts from the depot. If you have not received information to sign up to date, please contact the depot to confirm your number.
