Dear William Penn School District Parent/Guardian:
Welcome Back! A Fresh Look at School Meals!
We are excited to begin another school year and look forward to serving your students delicious, nutritious meals every day.
This year, students can enjoy new menu promotions, special events, and chef-inspired recipes designed around the foods and flavors they love. Our team works closely with chefs and nutrition experts to create meals that are both appealing and nutritious, helping students stay energized and ready to learn.
We’re also making some updates to our menus as part of our commitment to providing high-quality meals made with simple, recognizable ingredients. Beginning this school year, products containing certain artificial dyes and additives have been removed from school menus. While this may sound like a big change, most of our menu items were already free of these ingredients, so students are unlikely to notice major differences. In fact, many of the updates involve ingredients found in sauces, dressings, condiments, and other commonly used products rather than the entrées students enjoy every day.
Our goal is to serve meals that students love while continuing to meet evolving nutrition standards and providing families with greater ingredient transparency. We’ve carefully reviewed products and recipes to maintain the quality, taste, and variety students expect.
We encourage you to explore this year’s menus, promotions, and nutrition resources, and we welcome your feedback throughout the school year. Together, we can help students build healthy habits that support their success both in and out of the classroom.
Thank you for your partnership and support. We look forward to a wonderful year ahead! To learn more about healthy school meals visit USDA Food and Nutrition Service or Aramark Student Nutrition. The School Wellness Policy Triennial Assessment is a federally mandated evaluation conducted every three years to ensure compliance with the Local School Wellness Policy requirements established by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). The assessment aims to review and measure the implementation and effectiveness of the wellness policies in promoting student health and well-being within schools.
This assessment involves collecting data on various aspects of the school wellness policy, such as nutrition education, physical activity, and other school-based activities designed to promote student wellness. The results of the assessment are used to inform policy revisions and improvements to better support the health and well-being of students.
