Lansdowne, PA – September 12, 2024
The William Penn School District is proud to announce that two students, Naba Hassan (11th grade) and Layani Watson (11th grade) of Penn Wood High School, have been selected as part of the 2024-2025 Young Ambassadors of Pennsylvania cohort. This program, sponsored by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful (KPB), is dedicated to fostering community leaders committed to maintaining clean, healthy, and vibrant neighborhoods across the state.
Naba and Layani were chosen through a highly competitive application process. Over the next nine months, they will be able to develop their leadership skills while championing clean and beautiful communities. As Young Ambassadors, they will participate in hands-on activities and receive training in areas such as litter prevention, waste management, recycling, and civic engagement. They will also have the chance to work alongside professionals in the sustainability field through job shadow opportunities with companies such as DOW, Inc. and Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania/NiSource.
Both students will work closely with KPB and their peers across Pennsylvania to promote a shared vision of a clean and sustainable environment. In recognition of their service, Naba and Layani will also be eligible for scholarships provided by Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful.
Please join us in congratulating Naba and Layani on this remarkable achievement. We look forward to seeing their positive impact throughout their ambassadorship and beyond.
