Principal’s Message

Dear Families of Evans,

My name is Catherine Smith and I am excited to introduce myself as the principal of W.B. Evans Elementary School. I am honored to have been selected to join the Evans community in this role, which I have come to know by its dedication to excellence and the wellbeing of the children it serves.

Over the past 25 years, I have worked as a teacher and administrator. The teachers and I will spend a lot of time with your children, getting to know their personalities, learning styles and interests. We will celebrate their successes, small and large and encourage them every day and let them know they are valued and have a special place in our school community.

Not only am I excited to be working with your children, but I look forward to the work we will do together. I am excited to see your children through your eyes, and of course I will be here to work with you should they need any help navigating any aspect of the school day.

My goal is to ensure that all children are healthy, happy and safe, so they can be successful academically, socially, and emotionally. This has been my philosophy since I began my career teaching many years ago.

Throughout the school year we will strive to provide each of your children with a quality education. We will do this, in part, by teaching our students how to use skills and strategies that they will apply in the areas of reading, writing, mathematics, science and communication to meet and exceed the performance levels expected by the Pennsylvania Department of Education and our District Strategic Plan Focus Forward 2025. We look forward to establishing a deeper partnership with you to get your support and assistance to make this happen each and every day throughout the year.I will work daily to achieve the goals set forth by the William Penn School Board and its residents. I will work side by side with our students, staff, parents and community members to build bridges to connect each of us as we look to unlock the highest potential of our students and ourselves.
