The Communications team is dedicated to fostering effective communication within the William Penn School District (WPSD). We serve students, families, staff, and community members by delivering clear, timely, and accurate information about the district. Additionally, we highlight the objectives and accomplishments of WPSD to build understanding and support for the district’s functions, goals, and vision.

The Communications team actively collaborates with media outlets, arranges staff interviews, and responds to public information requests to promote transparency and foster a full understanding of WPSD’s priorities, initiatives, and achievements.

What We Do:

• Respond to Public Requests: Provide timely responses to public records requests under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).
• Share Timely Updates: Create and share publications with substantive and current information about WPSD’s schools, policies, and initiatives.
• Support Leadership: Assist schools, the Board of Directors, the superintendent, and district leaders in communicating Board actions, educational policies, and programs to stakeholders.
• Engage the Community: Build community support for WPSD through transparent communication and meaningful engagement.

Our Channels:
The Communications team ensures district information reaches stakeholders through multiple platforms:

• Media Releases and Alerts: Disseminate updates, news, and advisories to keep stakeholders informed.
• Website: The William Penn School District website provides regular updates on policies, programs, and emergency notifications.
• Social Media: WPSD shares news, stories, and events on its official Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and X (formerly Twitter) accounts.
• ParentSquare: WPSD communicates with families and staff through emails, text messages, and voicemails sent via ParentSquare. This includes district-wide and school-specific updates. Families are encouraged to ensure their contact information is up-to-date in PowerSchool.

Media Guidelines
The William Penn School District Communications team prioritizes openness and accessibility to ensure public understanding of the district’s operations and goals.

• Media relations specialists are available to coordinate coverage, arrange interviews, and respond to media inquiries.
• Media requests can be directed to the Communications Office via communications@wpsd.k12.pa.us or by calling 610-284-8000 ext. 1237.
• The team is committed to providing timely and accurate information to support local and regional media partners in their coverage of WPSD.
