Here are some of the common questions asked recently and their answers:
Q. I need to register my student for school. What do I need to do?
A. William Penn School District registration is an online process that can be completed from a computer or mobile device by visiting the William Penn School District Registration web page. For community members who do not have access to tools to complete the online registration, or those who may need assistance, an appointment can be made to complete the registration at the WPSD central office. An appointment is required and can be made here or by calling (610) 284-8005 ext 1234.
Q. I have submitted my student’s registration. What happens next?
A. Once a completed registration has been submitted it will be reviewed by the registration department. If any necessary documents are missing the registration department will reach out via email from registration@wpsd.k12.pa.us to obtain missing documents. If the registration is complete the student will be assigned to a school once review is complete.
Q. How will my student’s school be selected?
A. The William Penn School District will attempt to place students at a school location that is closest to their home address. Students may be placed into schools that are not closest to home to accommodate Individualized Education Plans (IEP). Students may not be placed at the school closest to home due to capacity restrictions which vary on a school to school basis.
Q. I registered a while ago but I have not heard anything?
A. Be sure to check your email to ensure that the registration department is not waiting on documentation from you. Adding registration@wpsd.k12.pa.us to your contacts on the email account you used to register can help by ensuring critical time sensitive requests have not gone to junk or spam mail boxes.
Review and processing times for completed registrations can vary depending on the specific needs or accommodations needed by a student. Students who have an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) may experience a delay in placement as an additional review by the special education department is required to ensure that the needs of the student can be met at the placement school. Once a student is placed with a school, you will typically receive a phone call from the school within 10 business days with start details for your student.
