Principal’s Message

Greetings Penn Wood Middle School Families,

It is with great pleasure that I join Penn Wood Middle School as the new principal and welcome you back to the 2023-2024 school year. I am very excited to embark on this journey to lead Penn Wood scholars to success. I want to assure you that I will work collaboratively with key stakeholders to ensure we have an amazing school year.

I am entering my 21st year in education and my 9th year as an administrator. I have served as an assistant principal and principal in urban schools across Philadelphia, including South Philadelphia, West Philadelphia, and Kensington. I am passionate about empowering children and aim to ensure all scholars love Pennwood Middle. I take pride in building a strong school culture, ensuring excellent instruction happens in every classroom and positive relationships are established amongst the school community.

A critical part of my leadership experience has been spent developing effective teachers. I firmly believe successful schools are a reflection of highly effective teachers. Therefore, through the collective leadership of Assistant Principals Dr. Carolyn Faulkner-Beitzel and Dr. Matthew Lammons, we will ensure every classroom is equipped with high-quality instruction and climates conducive to optimal learning.
