Continuing the Portrait of a Graduate Journey: From Ethical Leadership to Innovative Thinking

Lansdowne, PA, February 2, 2026 – The William Penn School District continues its Portrait of a Graduate journey as part of our shared commitment to helping students grow academically, socially, and personally from kindergarten through graduation.

At the start of the new year, schools highlighted the Portrait of a Graduate attribute Ethical Leader. This attribute emphasizes kindness, fairness, integrity, and making principled decisions. Visible reminders throughout our schools helped reinforce the importance of ethical leadership and what it looks like in everyday actions and interactions.

As we move into February, the district’s focus shifts to the Portrait of a Graduate attribute Innovative Thinker. Innovative Thinkers embrace creativity, ask questions, and explore forward-thinking solutions to challenges. This month’s attribute encourages students to think boldly, imagine new possibilities, and see themselves as problem-solvers and creators.

Across the district, Portrait of a Graduate attributes are highlighted monthly to build shared language and awareness around the skills and mindsets we want all students to develop over time. These attributes serve as guideposts, helping students, staff, and families understand how the district’s strategic plan comes to life in schools.

Superintendent Dr. Eric J. Becoats continues visiting schools as part of the Connecting Our Community Tour, joined by members of the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council. These visits create opportunities to talk with students and staff about the Portrait of a Graduate and what these attributes mean across different grade levels and school communities.

The remaining Portrait of a Graduate attributes for the school year include:

  • March: Effective Communicator
  • April: Hardworking Contributor

The Portrait of a Graduate reflects a shared vision for preparing William Penn School District students to succeed, lead, and shine, both in school and beyond.
