Ardmore Ave. Elementary School Teacher Awarded 2025 Excellence in Teaching Award

Derek Reed, a dedicated educator at Ardmore Avenue Elementary School, has been named a recipient of the prestigious 2025 Delaware Valley Excellence in Teaching Award. The Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union (FMFCU) Foundation announced the winners, recognizing Reed’s outstanding contributions to his students and the community.

Reed was selected from hundreds of nominations for his exceptional commitment to education, inspiring learning, and fostering innovation in the classroom. This annual award, sponsored by Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union, the Delaware County Intermediate Unit, and the Daily Times, celebrates educators who go above and beyond to create meaningful student experiences.

“Teachers play a crucial role in shaping the future, and this award is our way of recognizing their dedication, passion, and unwavering commitment to students,” said Rick Durante, FMFCU Foundation executive director.

Reed will be honored at the FMFCU Foundation Celebration on Thursday, April 10, at The Drexelbrook. There, he will receive a $2,000 grant, which includes $1,000 for his personal use and $1,000 for Ardmore Avenue Elementary School.

The FMFCU Foundation supports programs and initiatives that strengthen education, community impact, and social responsibility throughout the Delaware Valley. The foundation is dedicated to making a meaningful difference through scholarships, grants, and financial literacy programs.
