Celebrating American Education Week

Lansdowne, PA – November 17, 2025

American Education Week takes place from November 17th through the 21st, and the William Penn School District is proud to join school communities across the country in recognizing the importance of public education and the people who make it thrive. This annual weeklong observance shines a spotlight on the students, families, educators, support staff, and community partners who work together to create vibrant learning environments.

Why This Week Matters
American Education Week is an opportunity to pause and acknowledge the collective effort behind student success. In a district like ours, where dedication, creativity, and heart shine through every day, this week reminds us of the profound impact that public education has on the lives of children and families. It also allows us to honor the many roles that contribute to a strong school community, from classroom teachers to support professionals to volunteers and partners who enrich our students’ experiences.

Activities and Celebrations in WPSD
Throughout the week, our schools will take part in several activities designed to highlight what makes the William Penn School District special:

  • Theme Days
Monday, November 17 – Wear your school colors or gear to celebrate your school spirit.
Wednesday, November 19 – In celebration of Education Support Professionals Day, dress as a favorite superhero or honor someone that means a lot to you.
Friday, November 21 – Wear red and/or blue to show your WPSD pride!
  • “My WPSD Favorite”
Students, staff, and visitors will share something they love about WPSD by writing it on a “My WPSD Favorite” sign. These snapshots of pride and joy will be shared on our district platforms throughout the week. On Tuesday, November 18th, we will announce the winners for the contest for families and students. A winner from each building will win a $25 Amazon gift card, courtesy of the William Penn Education Association.
  • Guest Readers and Classroom Visitors
Schools will welcome guests into classrooms to read with students, participate in activities, and experience the meaningful learning taking place each day.
  • Education Support Professionals Day — Wednesday, November 19
Midweek, we celebrate our Education Support Professionals — the paraprofessionals, secretaries, custodians, cafeteria staff, transportation teams, and many others who keep our schools running and ensure that students are cared for and supported. Their work is essential to every school’s success, and we are grateful for their dedication.

As the week unfolds, we look forward to sharing photos and stories that reflect the spirit, pride, and partnership that define the William Penn School District. Thank you to everyone who contributes, in big ways and small, to making our schools places where students can grow, learn, and thrive.
