Celebrating American Education Week: November 18-22

Lansdowne, PANovember 14, 2025

The William Penn School District is excited to join communities nationwide in celebrating American Education Week (AEW) from November 18th to November 22nd! This annual observance, which dates back to 1921, honors the dedication of educators, school staff, and everyone who contributes to the success of our schools. It’s also a time to recognize the importance of education and the need for strong collaboration between teachers, families, and the community. This year’s theme, “Together for Safe, Just & Equitable Schools”, highlights our shared commitment to fostering positive and supportive learning environments for all students.

Spirit Week Schedule

In partnership with the William Penn Education Association (WPEA), we’ve planned a fun and meaningful Spirit Week for our schools. We encourage families, students, staff, and the entire community to join us in celebrating!

Here’s the schedule:

Monday, November 18 – School Pride Day
We’re kicking off AEW with School Pride Day! Students, staff, and families are invited to wear their school gear or mascot attire to show their pride in our schools.

Tuesday, November 19 – Family Day
We will be announcing the winners of the ‘Why I ♥️ WPSD’ contest, recognizing families who have shared what makes our district special to them. A randomly-selected winner from each school building will receive a $25 Amazon gift card thanks to the generosity of the WPEA. Families, submit your entries here!

Wednesday, November 20 – Education Support Professionals Day & Superhero Day
This day is dedicated to the Educational Support Professionals (ESPs) who work behind the scenes to keep our schools running smoothly. To honor their dedication, we’re inviting everyone to dress as their favorite superhero or someone who has made a difference in their life.

Thursday, November 21 – Educator for a Day
Some of our local elected officials will join us in classrooms to read stories or teach lessons, showing their support for public education. Additionally, district administrators will be visiting classrooms to do the same throughout the week!

Friday, November 22 – Team WPSD!
We’re wrapping up the week by celebrating the spirit of teamwork that makes our district thrive. Students and staff are encouraged to wear team jerseys or their WPSD gear.

Why I ♥️ WPSD

Throughout the week, students and staff are encouraged to fill out ‘Why I ♥️ WPSD’ signs, expressing what they love most about our district. These signs will be displayed in our schools, and we’ll share some on social media. You can find the sign here to fill out and share. If you’d like to participate, please send your photos to webcontent@wpsd.k12.pa.us and use the hashtag #WPSDLove on social media to join the celebration!

We look forward to a week of fun, recognition, and community spirit as we celebrate American Education Week. Thank you for your continued support and dedication to our schools!

Happy American Education Week!
