Communication of Weather Delays and Closures

Lansdowne, PA – December 1, 2025

As winter approaches, the William Penn School District is preparing to ensure that all families and staff continue to receive timely and accurate information regarding weather-related school delays or closures. Clear and reliable communication helps keep our community safe, and we want everyone to know exactly where and how these updates will be shared.

ParentSquare: Our Primary Communication Tool
ParentSquare is the district’s main platform for all official weather-related notifications. Messages will be sent via phone calls, emails, and text messages to both families and staff.

  • Families:
    • Phone numbers and email addresses must be correct in eSchool, as ParentSquare pulls its information directly from that system.
    • If you need to add or update a phone number or email address, please contact your school secretary. Once updated in eSchool, the information will sync to ParentSquare overnight.
    • Please double-check that your email address is spelled correctly as typos can prevent messages from being delivered.
    • Reminder: Landline numbers cannot receive text messages. Text alerts sent to a landline will not go through.
  • Staff:
    • To receive weather-related and emergency phone calls and text messages, staff must ensure their phone numbers are current in ParentSquare. A step-by-step guide has been shared via email to help you confirm or update your contact information.
    • Emails from ParentSquare are sent to staff members’ district email addresses.

District Website
All delay or closure announcements will be posted on the district website as both a homepage graphic and a news story.

Local Media Outlets
Weather-related updates will be reported to KYW, NBC, CBS, ABC, and FOX29.

District Social Media
The district’s Facebook and Instagram pages will share posts and stories with the latest information.

As we move into the colder months, we encourage all families and staff to review their contact information and stay connected to the district’s communication channels. Thank you for partnering with us to keep our schools safe and informed this winter season.
