Lansdowne, PA – August 27, 2025
On August 27, 2025, teachers and staff at East Lansdowne Elementary School were treated to a special surprise — a brand new teachers’ lounge makeover.
The project began when fourth-grade teacher Rachael Albert entered the school into a nationwide contest sponsored by Walmart and Crayola. Out of more than 10,000 applicants, East Lansdowne was selected as one of only 24 winning schools.
Walmart contributed $3,000 to renovate the lounge with new furniture, décor, and essentials including tables, chairs, rugs, a microwave, and a coffee maker. During the reveal, Walmart representatives also surprised Principal Jennifer Cifuni and the teachers with an additional $1,000 gift card for a TV. Crayola donated $1,000 in art supplies to support the school.
The makeover was completed over two days, with Walmart staff helping to paint the room, assemble furniture, and arrange the new space. Teachers were invited to the lounge for the official reveal, where they were delighted to see their bright, welcoming new environment for the first time.
The upgraded lounge provides a comfortable space for teachers to relax, collaborate, and recharge, helping start the school year on a positive note. The William Penn School District is grateful to Rachael Albert, Walmart, and Crayola for making this opportunity possible.
