Lansdowne, PA – November 3, 2025
This month, the William Penn School District is shining a spotlight on the Optimistic Visionary as part of our ongoing Portrait of a Graduate initiative. An Optimistic Visionary approaches challenges with positivity, enthusiasm, and a hopeful outlook for the future. This attribute reminds students that their mindset matters—especially when things feel difficult.
Students are learning that an Optimistic Visionary:
- Stays positive and believes in a better future.
- Looks for possibilities instead of barriers.
- Approaches challenges with hope, determination, and confidence.
As Eleanor Roosevelt once said, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” This message serves as a guiding inspiration for students across the district.

Throughout November, classrooms are encouraged to engage in activities to help students reflect and dream forward:
- Reflect / Think / Journal: What challenges do you face, and how can you approach them with a positive mindset?
- Write / Draw: Create a vision board or write/draw your hopes for the future.
- Personal Action: Identify one thing you can do this month to stay positive and hopeful.
- Collaborative Project: Contribute to a school or classroom “Dream Wall” showcasing students’ aspirations.
- Recognition: Celebrate students who uplift others and encourage positivity in the school community.
The Portrait of a Graduate Connecting the Community Tour continues, as Dr. Becoats and members of the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council visit classrooms to highlight what it means to embody these attributes. After visiting classrooms at Aldan ES and Penn Wood MS in October, they are continuing to inspire students across the district to see themselves as leaders, learners, and visionaries who can rise to their highest potential.
