Lansdowne, PA / January 14, 2026

Afia Lewis, sixth-grade math and science teacher at Bell Avenue Elementary School, will be inducted into the Delaware County Athletes Hall of Fame on Sunday, April 19, 2026. A proud Penn Wood High School graduate from the Class of 1997, Lewis was a standout member of the Patriots’ track and field team before continuing her athletic success at Temple University. Her accomplishments at Temple also earned her induction into the university’s Hall of Fame.

The induction ceremony will be especially meaningful, as the President of the Delaware County Athletes Hall of Fame is former Penn Wood administrator, teacher, and coach John Leary, making the event a full-circle moment for the Penn Wood community. Reflecting on the honor, Lewis shared, “I am truly honored and excited!”
