WPSD Celebrates American Education Week!

Lansdowne, PANovember 13, 2023

American Education Week (AEW), recognized the week before Thanksgiving, is a time to celebrate public schools and the educators who make them great. This year’s theme, “Together for Safe, Just and Equitable Schools.” highlights the important role that public schools play in our society.

Public schools are more than just places where students learn academic skills. They are also community hubs where students develop social and emotional skills, learn about civic engagement, and build relationships with their peers and adults. Public schools are also a major driver of economic development and social mobility.

Educators play a vital role in supporting students and making public schools successful. They work tirelessly to create a safe and supportive learning environment where all students can thrive. Educators also go above and beyond to support their students’ needs outside of the classroom, often serving as mentors and role models.

During AEW, schools and communities across the country host events to celebrate public schools and the educators who make them great. Here is how the William Penn School District will be celebrating AEW:

Please follow along on our district social media accounts to see our celebrations. Throughout the week, students, teachers, and staff will share what they love about WPSD. If you also want to share, please fill out this sign and send a photo of you (and your family) holding it to webcontent@wpsd.k12.pa.us.

American Education Week is an opportunity to celebrate the public schools and educators that are at the heart of our communities. Please show your support for public education and the people who make it possible.
