After much research and discussion, the Ninth Grade Academy was created in 2022 to provide the increased structure and support that educational research reveals our students need in their freshman year in order to be successful.
Welcome to the Penn Wood High School Ninth Grade Academy! This is a special program designed to help you transition from middle school to high school and prepare you for academic success. In the Ninth Grade Academy, you will have a team of teachers who will support you in your core subjects and guide you through the high school curriculum. You will also have opportunities to explore your interests and talents in various electives and extracurricular activities. The Ninth Grade Academy is a place where you can learn, grow, and have fun with your peers.

Congressional Youth Cabinet
In 2019, Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon launched the Congressional Youth Cabinet (CYC), a nonpartisan initiative to provide high school students in Pennsylvania’s 5th Congressional District with an opportunity to learn more about Congress and the policymaking process. Members of the CYC get to share their ideas about solving pressing issues facing young Americans, and will also have the opportunity to connect with other elected officials, peers, and community leaders.
