The Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (DHS) is currently issuing 2025 SUN Bucks benefits to eligible families. All benefits should be issued by August 31, 2025, with the program wrapping up by September 30, 2025.
If you have questions about your SUN Bucks benefits, please note that schools cannot access your individual benefit information. However, we want to make sure you know where to get help.

Common Issues and How to Resolve Them

- Locating your issued benefits
- Replacing a lost SUN Bucks card
- Updating an address if benefits went to the wrong place

- Understanding why benefits may have expired (benefits are removed 4 months after they are issued)

Important SUN Bucks Information for Families
- Keep your SUN Bucks card — you may need it for future benefits.
- Your child is automatically eligible for 2025 SUN Bucks if any of the following apply:
- They attended a National School Lunch Program (NSLP) school in 2024–25 and were Directly Certified (receiving SNAP, TANF, or Medicaid with qualifying income) between July 1, 2024 and August 31, 2025.
- They attended an NSLP school in 2024–25 and were eligible for free/reduced-price meals through a meal application or were in another qualifying category (homeless, foster, migrant, runaway, Head Start) between the same dates.
- They attended a non-NSLP school but received SNAP, TANF, or Medicaid with qualifying income between July 1, 2024 and August 31, 2025 and are between ages 6–18.
Applying for SUN Bucks
If your child is not automatically eligible, you can:
- Use the Eligibility Navigator tool on the DHS SUN Bucks webpage to see if your child qualifies.
- Complete the online SUN Bucks application if needed.
- Deadline: Applications for 2025 must be submitted by August 31, 2025.
