🎓 A day of pride and celebration at Walnut Street Elementary!
On June 12, families and friends gathered to celebrate the proud 6th-grade students during their Move-Up Ceremony. The event was filled with heartfelt moments as students were recognized for their achievements and took the next big step toward middle school.
Congratulations, Walnut students, your journey is just getting started!
🏀🔥 The competition was intense, the crowd was hyped, and the bragging rights were on the line!
On June 11, Penn Wood High School hosted its annual Staff vs. Students Basketball Game, and it did NOT disappoint. Both teams brought the energy, but this year… the staff pulled off a narrow win!
Shout-out to the students for showing up and making this year’s game a special one! There`s never a loser in this game, just school spirit at its finest!

On June 12, Colwyn Elementary celebrated its youngest learners during a joyful Kindergarten Move-Up Ceremony. Families filled the room with pride and excitement as the students sang songs, received certificates, and officially became first graders! 🎓🌟
The celebration was full of laughter, love, and the promise of all the amazing things yet to come.
Congratulations to the rising stars. First grade, here they come!
Got a sneak peek of our Penn Wood High School graduates as they visited their elementary schools and the middle school on June 13th. Teachers and students clapped them out and cheered them as they walked the hallways one last time as WPSD students.
Graduation will take place on Wednesday, June 18th at 10 a.m. at Neumann University.

Park Lane Elementary held its annual Block Party on Wednesday, June 11, and the energy was through the roof!
From bouncing around in the bounce house to showing off moves to the sounds from DJ Smoove, students enjoyed a day full of fun, games, and community spirit. Friendly competitions kept everyone moving, and the sweet treats kept everyone smiling, with cotton candy, soft pretzels, and refreshing water ice from Fred’s! 🎶🍧🥨
A huge thank you to the staff, volunteers, and families for making it all happen. What a way to celebrate an amazing school year!
The William Penn Jazz Band hosted its 3rd Annual Jazz & Dessert Night at Penn Wood Middle School on May 29th, a magical evening filled with music, celebration, and community!
The high school jazz band performed and featured a standout set from Kehinde and Taiwo Mogaji. There was a short awards ceremony and two special announcements: the 2025 Marching Band show theme and the student leadership team for the upcoming year.
This year’s major award winners were:
🎹 Taiwo Mogaji – Louis Armstrong Jazz Award, recognizing excellence in jazz performance
🎷 Kehinde Mogaji – John Philip Sousa Band Award, honoring leadership and commitment to the band program
Leading the 2025 student leadership team will be:
– Nia’Mora Roberts (Drum Major)
– Lahmae Hampton (Percussion)
– Eva Nabried-Coles (Brass)
– Alishah Poole (Woodwinds)
The event highlighted the dedication and talent of our student musicians. Thanks to everyone who volunteered and came out to join us! We’re already looking forward to the 4th Annual Jazz & Dessert Night next spring.

Aldan Elementary School hosted a science fair on June 4. Students presented a variety of projects, showcasing their investigations and findings across different scientific disciplines. The event offered students the opportunity to showcase their understanding of scientific principles and share their work with the school community.
Bell Avenue Elementary students recently presented their talents at a Juneteenth celebration on June 5. The event featured a range of performances, including singing, poetry readings, and dance routines. Rap artist Skibop also made a guest appearance.

Colwyn Elementary School proudly celebrated Juneteenth on June 4, with a special program honoring freedom, history, and culture.
Students and staff came together to recognize the significance of this important day in American history. Each grade organized a special performance for the program. The performances consisted of dance and step routines, poetry readings, and original skits written by Colwyn students. One class recited a poem written by a former Colwyn Elementary student Harlie Rae Jones (currently a student at PWMS), who was in attendance.

On Tuesday, June 3, Park Lane Elementary held a powerful Juneteenth celebration that both educated and inspired students and guests. The program highlighted the importance of Juneteenth and why it`s celebrated across the country.
Standout moments included original paintings by student artist Aiden Morales and a moving poem written and performed by student Dominic Buchanan.
Juneteenth, celebrated annually on June 19, commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. It marks the day in 1865 when the last enslaved people in Texas learned they were free, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed.
