The Delaware County Intermediate Unit (DCIU) recently announced several major initiatives and facility improvements that provide direct resources for local students, educators, and families.

1. Structured Literacy Resource Hub

• What it is: A new online portal providing evidence-based reading tools aligned with Pennsylvania’s updated school code.
• Who it helps: Families and teachers looking for practical strategies to support reading comprehension, vocabulary, and phonics.
• Available free to the public at dciu.org.

2. Marple Education Center Expansion

• Early Intervention: Added classrooms and therapy suites for young children with specialized needs.
• School-Age Facilities: Increased classroom capacity and an updated, accessible playground.
• Transition Support Lab: A new vocational lab where students gain practical job and business skills using equipment like heat presses and laser cutters.

3. Folcroft Campus Modernization

• Construction is underway on three new additions to house Early Childhood Education and expanded Career and Technical Education (CTE) labs.
• Location & Timeline: Located on Henderson Boulevard, with all additions scheduled for completion by fall 2027.
• Completed Upgrades: New traffic entrances and expanded parking are already open.

4. Support for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Students
