Lansdowne, PA – May 20, 2026

Due to extreme weather temperatures and the building’s limited cooling capacity, Walnut Street Elementary School will dismiss early today, May 20, 2026, at 12:58 p.m. to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of students and staff.

Prior to making this decision, the building Principal and Chief of Operations visited classrooms throughout the school to monitor and assess classroom temperatures. After carefully evaluating conditions across the building, it was determined that an early dismissal was necessary to maintain a safe and healthy learning environment.

Students who receive district bus transportation will be transported home as usual. Students who normally walk home will be dismissed at the 12:58 p.m. dismissal time. All after-school programs and activities at Walnut Street Elementary School are cancelled for today.

We understand that schedule changes may cause inconvenience for families and appreciate your patience, flexibility, and understanding as student and staff safety remains our highest priority. Families are encouraged to help students stay hydrated and remain in cool environments throughout the remainder of the day.
