Lansdowne, PAMarch 14, 2024

Aniyah Laws has been recognized for her outstanding contributions by the Upper Darby – Lansdowne Rotary Club with their February Award. Aniyah is not only a stellar student but also a dedicated volunteer firefighter for the Yeadon Fire Company and a compassionate volunteer for the Salvation Army in Philadelphia.

On top of her commitment to service, Aniyah serves as the student representative for the Delaware County Technical School’s Folcroft campus.  She has even taken her advocacy to the state level, representing her school at a CTE meeting with state representatives for the Delaware County Intermediate Unit.

Aniyah’s dedication extends beyond the classroom and volunteer work. Her bravery and quick thinking were on display this past Saturday, March 9th, when she sprang into action to help rescue someone whose car was stuck in water. Aniyah, along with her friends, rushed to the scene, ensuring the person’s safety and helping to remove the car from the water. Aniyah’s heroism extended to warning other drivers about the hazard.

Looking towards the future, Aniyah’s sights are set on a career dedicated to helping others. Her plans include attending fire school, obtaining her EMT certification, and pursuing a college degree in fire science. There’s no doubt that Aniyah’s unwavering commitment to service and her heroic actions will continue to make a positive impact on the community.
