Lansdowne, PA – June 15, 2025
On Monday, June 9, Penn Wood High School proudly recognized the outstanding achievements of its students during the 2025 Awards Ceremony. Hosted in the school’s auditorium, the evening brought together students, families, faculty, and administrators to celebrate academic success, leadership, extracurricular involvement, and personal growth.
The evening began with a warm welcome from Principal Stephen Chicano, followed by opening remarks from Dr. Eric J. Becoats, Superintendent of Schools, and congratulatory remarks from School Board President Ms. Monique Boykins. Each speaker praised the students for their hard work, perseverance, and contributions to the school community.
Honoring Academic Excellence
One of the highlights of the evening was the presentation of the prestigious Presidential Awards, recognizing graduating seniors who achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher. More than 100 members of the Class of 2025 were honored for their academic excellence and commitment to their studies. This achievement reflects years of dedication by students, as well as the support of their families and teachers.
Celebrating Educator and Departmental Awards
In addition to student honors, the ceremony featured Educator Awards, where individual teachers recognized students who demonstrated growth, leadership, and excellence in their classrooms. Faculty members across departments personally nominated students who stood out for their hard work, improvement, and character throughout the school year.
Departmental Awards highlighted achievement across a variety of disciplines, including English, mathematics, science, social studies, art, music, business/technology, world languages, health & PE, and more. Both “Most Improved” and “Most Outstanding” awards were presented at each grade level, celebrating both academic growth and high achievement.
Recognizing Leadership and Involvement
The evening also showcased Penn Wood’s vibrant student life, with Activities Awards presented to students involved in dozens of clubs, honor societies, and organizations. From National Honor Society and Student Council to theater club, DECA, Science Olympiad, Best Buddies, yearbook, Esports, and more, these awards honored students who make a difference outside the classroom through leadership, service, and creativity.
A Community Effort
The 2025 Awards Ceremony reflects the strong sense of community at Penn Wood High School, where students are encouraged and supported to grow academically, socially, and personally. The leadership team, department chairs, and activity advisors all play a key role in guiding students toward success.
