Penn Wood High School Starts First Competitive Show Choir

Lansdowne, PAMarch 11, 2026

The William Penn School District has announced the launch of its first-ever competitive show choir, Penn Wood Prime Time. The ensemble is set to debut its inaugural program, titled Passing Time, with a preview concert on Thursday, March 19, 2026.

Under the direction of Patrick Hein and assistant director Judy Jordan, Prime Time marks a significant milestone as the state’s second competitive show choir program. The group consists of 15 students from grades 9 through 12 who earned their positions through a competitive audition process in September.

The debut set, Passing Time, features choreography by Paige McConlogue. The program explores the concept of time and the human experience through a blend of song and dance. To prepare for the season, students have maintained a rigorous schedule of weekly rehearsals supplemented by full-day choreography sessions throughout the school year.

The program’s establishment was aided by a partnership with Scranton High School, the state’s only other competitive program. This collaboration provided the necessary framework and support to launch the Penn Wood ensemble this academic year.

The group will begin its season locally before traveling for out-of-state competitions in Virginia and Massachusetts.
