William Penn School District Board Passes Immigration Resolution to Protect Students

Lansdowne, PA – February 13, 2025

At the February 6, 2025 Policy Committee meeting, the William Penn School District Board of School Directors approved a resolution reaffirming the District’s commitment to providing a safe, welcoming, and supportive learning environment for all students, regardless of immigration status.

This Immigration Resolution declares the District as a Safe Zone, ensuring that all students can access a free public K-12 education without fear of disruption due to federal immigration enforcement activities. The resolution also reinforces the District’s dedication to student privacy and protection.

Key Provisions of the Resolution:

  • The District will not allow immigration enforcement activities to disrupt the learning environment.
  • Any requests from immigration enforcement agencies must be directed to the Superintendent’s Office for review.
  • No student data regarding immigration status or place of birth will be collected or shared.
  • The resolution will be posted in all school buildings and communicated to students, families, and staff in multiple languages.
  • School counselors are available to support students with questions or concerns.
  • After-school providers and other service partners will be notified of the resolution and required to abide by it.
