WPSD Honors Inaugural Portrait of a Graduate Award Recipients

Lansdowne, PA – July 2, 2026

The William Penn School District is proud to recognize Gabriel Beckett and Kadija Dukuray as the inaugural recipients of the district’s Portrait of a Graduate Award.

The awards were presented during Penn Wood High School’s 2026 Awards Ceremony on May 28, 2026, marking the first time the district has recognized graduating seniors with this distinction.

The Portrait of a Graduate Award honors students who exemplify the qualities outlined in William Penn’s Portrait of a Graduate, a shared vision of the knowledge, skills, and character every student should develop before graduation. The framework identifies six essential attributes that prepare students for success in college, careers, and life: Driven Achiever, Optimistic Visionary, Ethical Leader, Innovative Thinker, Effective Communicator, and Hardworking Contributor.

As the inaugural recipients, Gabriel and Kadija have demonstrated these qualities through their leadership, perseverance, character, and commitment to making a positive impact in their school and community.

Their recognition is especially meaningful because both students served on the district’s inaugural Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council, helping shape the Portrait of a Graduate framework that now guides teaching and learning across the William Penn School District. Their contributions helped define the very qualities this award now celebrates.

By establishing the Portrait of a Graduate Award, the William Penn School District recognizes students whose accomplishments extend beyond academics to include leadership, collaboration, service, innovation, and resilience. Gabriel Beckett and Kadija Dukuray have set a remarkable standard for future recipients.

Congratulations to Gabriel and Kadija on this well-deserved honor and on becoming the first recipients of the William Penn School District’s Portrait of a Graduate Award.
